Network and Dialogue

Network building and dialogue constitutes the heart of RADOST and provides a gateway between research and practice. Sector-related and cross-sectoral issues are addressed in various forms of exchange and cooperation. The state of research activities is continuously assessed according to the needs of regional stakeholders, and approaches to solutions, including concrete applications, are being developed.

The networks and dialogue are centered on six focus topics that make up integral, climate-dependent economic industries and spheres of activity in the region. The focus topics are:

RADOST is striving to create a cooperative network for climate adaption in the region which encompasses both provinces on the German Baltic coast. The network builds upon and complements pre-existing administrative bodies in order to fulfill the multilateral demands of climate adaptation.
Several different types of events, which complement already existing committees and task forces, will foster the development of networks as well as the communication and exchange of ideas between stakeholders:

  • Workshops involving the stakeholders from the entire project region and, if need be, from other areas will serve as the central axis of the dialogue for each main topic of discussion. The development of “Focus-networks” made up of relevant stakeholders will foster the consistent handling of adaptation-related issues.
  • Annual regional conferences will promote dialogue between the focus-networks and provide a general overview of the status of consequence-focused climate research for that region as well as the status of the development of adaptive strategies. They will include not only the general public of the region but also experts from around the world.
  • Furthermore, a “Regional Round Table,” encompassing all sectors, is planned for certain focus areas where particularly pronounced conflicts over resources exist.

To ensure the appropriate implementation of adaptive strategies, several implementation projects with partners have been planned. The cooperation in these implementation projects is also an integral element in developing these networks.
